I followed a diagram i found googling the fit's wiring schematics. The diagrams floating around here for the 2015 and 2016 there is one wire that still holds true to its current position on the 2017 and that is the reverse signal. So i bought a reverse camera for my truck on ebay after trying to install my clumsy big clarion camera off my last car, i the camera came with a wiring diagram but it was in chinglish and i figured i wouldn't need it anyways so i threw it away.

The override harness tells your head unit and backup camera the vehicle is in reverse whenever you flip the switch.

Once you can see the inside previously covered part of the tailgate, you'll see the av cable which connects to the camera and its two wire harness and another small harness which goes to the high rear brake light*.

The camera leads have to go in the hole first then then camera is pushed in slightly.

It's possible you're connecting the wrong wire from the reverse camera, and/or that wire is shorting out to something.
